Empowering the next generation of caregivers, innovators, and leaders!
Overview
The Youth Health Symposium is a free event hosted by the Stanford Department of Pediatrics and American Red Cross Northern California Coastal Region. We look forward to welcoming you to the Stanford School of Medicine campus on Saturday, May 18, 2024, where you can hear from health care professionals, participate in a resume writing workshop, and network with peers.
This event is open to high school students interested in health care, science, medicine, and research. Topics include:
- Climate Crisis Management
- Health Policy in Youth
- Role of Technology & AI in Health Care
- Diversity in Medicine
- Careers in Healthcare & Medicine

Registration
Registration is free for high school students (must be at least 14 years old). Event includes continental breakfast and lunch. Registration is required to attend. Seating is limited.

Keynote
Christopher Lopez
MD, PhD Candidate
Stanford School of Medicine
Christopher Lopez grew up in Los Angeles, California. After an uphill battle through education, he is now a third-year MD/PhD student in Stanford's Medical Scientist Training Program. He is completing a PhD in Stem Cell Biology and Regenerative Medicine in Paul Khavari’s lab. As a dedicated member of the Costanoan Rumsen Carmel Tribe and co-chair for the Stanford American Indigenous Medical Students, Christopher is committed to bridging gaps in Native healthcare, contributing his efforts towards improving healthcare outcomes within the community.
